How do I buy a physical book?

Browse the Marketplace and open a listing that is a physical book (not an e-book). Add it to your basket, then go to Checkout.

Sign in if prompted, enter a complete delivery address in Profile → Settings, and pay with Stripe.

After payment, the seller receives a postage label and ships the book to you. Track progress under Profile → Orders.

Preloved Pages is an intermediary for these peer-to-peer sales: the purchase contract is between you and the seller.

How do I download my digital e-book?

Digital e-books are delivered instantly after checkout — there is no postage. Open Profile → Library to find purchased titles. Use Download on the title to save the EPUB or PDF file to your device. Keep the same account you used at checkout; access is tied to that login. If a file will not open, raise an issue through Profile → Messages so we can replace a defective file. Once download or library access has begun, e-book sales are normally final except where the file is faulty or UK consumer law requires a remedy.

What are the shipping rates and weights?

Shipping applies to physical books only. E-books have no shipping charge. For each physical sale on this website, the listed price is the item price. Tracked postage is added at Stripe checkout from the combined weight of that seller’s books (350g paperbacks; 1kg for a single hardback, cookbook, or textbook). UK singles and light multi-book parcels (up to 1kg) are a flat £2.64. Heavier combined parcels step up to the next Parcel2Go band. EU, North America, Australia/New Zealand, and rest-of-world use higher courier tiers. The same item listed on eBay uses that base-plus-49p price, with shipping charged through eBay policies rather than baked into the item price. Free book exchanges use a separate postage label (about £2.99 plus a 49p protection fee) instead of the sale listing price.

How do I raise a return or issue?

Use Profile → Messages to contact the seller and Preloved Pages as soon as you spot a problem, and include photos or tracking where relevant. For physical books bought at a distance, UK consumers generally have a 14-day statutory right to cancel from the day the goods arrive, then return the item without undue delay (usually within 14 days of cancelling). Return postage is normally yours unless the book was not as described, damaged in transit, or faulty. If the parcel is lost, stolen, or damaged in transit, use the shipment claim form on this page instead of emailing a public support address. Digital e-books do not have that 14-day cooling-off right once access has started, except for defective files or other remedies required by law. What if my parcel is lost, stolen, or damaged in transit?

Submit the shipment claim form on this page with your order ID or tracking number and a short description. For damage, add a photo of the parcel and book. We log the claim and our team reviews it against the order in our records. You will see a confirmation on the form — we do not publish a direct admin email.
